Oct 24, 08:47 PM

The rest of Europe may be packing away the sun loungers and the sun tan lotion. But here on Lanzarote the island is just starting to gear up for the busiest holiday season of the year. As Christmas and New Year approaches.

And owners of holiday villas in Lanzarote have been boosted by the news that low cost flight operators Monarch will be increasing the flight services to Lanzarote across the festive period. Whilst newly launched airline Kiss Flights will be featuring Lanzarote in their schedule, commencing next May 2009.

Lanzarote has long been a popular winter sun destination – especially amongst British and Irish tourists. Who are currently on target to make over one million visit to the Island of Fire this year. Maintaining Lanzarote´s reputation as a hot destination despite the current credit crunch and the falling pound.

The new Monarch flights to Lanzarote will be departing from major UK airports such as Gatwick, Manchester and Birmingham. Whilst Kiss will be operating out of just Gatwick initially under the aegis of Meridian Aviation.

According to Monarch’s Liz Savage:” The additional flights are great news for Monarch customers looking to get away this Christmas. Early indicators show that our customers are considering the Christmas getaway as important as ever and are continuing to snap up Monarch’s low fares in their droves. With 64 additional flights being added into the flying programme offering in excess of 12,000 further seats, getting away for Christmas has never been easier”.

Lanzarote and the Canary Islands are Europe´s only genuine winter sun destination. Just four hours flying time from the UK. And with temperatures that will stay in excess of 20C whilst the UK and Eire shivers through December and January.

Anyone looking to get away from the cold can take advantage of these new Monarch flights and the large selection of villas and apartments that we have available. With good value properties available such as Casa Victoria in Playa Blanca – available from as little as £455 per week. Which boasts two beds and a private pool. Or for those on a tighter budget – this villa in Playa Blanca in Carlos Park sleeps up to six and is available for just £385 per week.
